DRAGONSLEAF
is being developed by Peter and Kathy Drake as a state-of-the-art
vineyard, and as a real estate investment. The property
sits in the Sonoma Mountain appellation in historic
Bennett Valley. Previously undeveloped, the 52 acres
includes a four acre lake and now a 20 acre vineyard,
along with the infrastructure for a home on the property
with views of the Sonoma Valley and Mayacamas Mountains.

DRAGONSLEAF
was named by combining Drago (which means Dragon),
and is the Latin root of the name Drake, with Leaf,
a reflection of the agricultural nature of the property.
The estate has been developed as a Sonoma Creek Vineyard
Demonstration Project, incorporating the Best Management
Practices of the County Resource Conservation District,
which includes reintroduction of native plant, animal
and bird species.

Phil Coturri, of Enterprise Vineyard Management is
managing the vineyard for CCOF organic certification
under the advisement of Benziger Winery, the buyer
of the grapes. The latest technologies in soil preparation,
plant selection, row spacing, irrigation, weather
monitoring, and landscape development have been used.
The varietals selected are reflective of the complex
weather patterns in the area, and the successful cultivation
of Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah in this part of the
Sonoma Mountain appellation.
